Metal Substrate

An international first: The mass production of ultra thin 20-μm, 900-cell metal substrates

Our metal substrates are smaller and provide better cleaning performance compared with ceramic units. They also have the advantage of offering little resistance to the flow of exhaust gas, and have minimal impact on the engine power output. Calsonic Kansei's proprietary configuration and manufacturing methods give the converters high reliability and consistent cleaning performance under a wide range of operating conditions. A combination of the diffusion connection technique and the large/small wave structure provides excellent durability and facilitates mass production.

Description of the basic structure

[Feature]
Fifty-percent reduction in cold emission (compared to the 50-μm 400-cell substrates)
Feature 1- Heat capacity reduced from 50 μm to 20 μm. A reduction of approximately 20% in HC emissions

Geometric area increased from 400 cells to 900 cells. A reduction of approximately 20% in HC emissions
Feature 2- Minimal resistance to the flow of exhaust gas because of an expanded diameter and shortened substrate
