Calsonic Kansei - Instrument Cluster

Calsonic Kansei instrument clusters provide the driver with instant, accurate information about the vehicle, speed, engine revolutions, water temperature and fuel level. Calsonic Kansei develops and produces the entire system, from the sensors that detect the status of the vehicle to the instruments that convey the information to the driver. With the approach of ITS, automobile instruments are being coupled with data communications and safety display functions. Consequently, the instrument panel is evolving into a more advanced information display system, and is becoming the interface between passengers and the machine. To provide the driver with an optimal display, Calsonic Kansei is developing new types of display systems, using its own special approach based on ergonomics and the application of advanced technology.

Light sources included tungsten bulbs, xenon bulbs and CFL. They were installed according to the transparency of the front cover, brightness of illumination, and so on. Currently LED is becoming mainstream.

As automobile features become more advanced, the instrument panel becomes increasingly congested with components. Calsonic Kansei provides analog instruments that are much thinner and lighter than their conventional counterparts, and that offer efficient use of space on the instrument panel as well as provide more space in the design of the vehicle's interior.

For instrument clusters that provide instantaneous and accurate information about the vehicle, the display capabilities need to be more versatile and advanced to provide comprehensive information about increasingly complex vehicle functions, data communication and safety functions. This instrument cluster occupies a compact space and alternate the display of information. The alternating display includes shift displays, a calendar, a clock, a trip meter, voltage, oil temperature, etc. The LCD which offers excellent visibility is used.

We have made our motorcycle and ATV vehicle instrument clusters thin and light, and have improved visibility by setting the most appropriate LCD. The clusters have excellent resistance to water and vibration for use outdoors.
