- Where does the name Calsonic Kansei come from?
- When were Calsonic and Kansei merged?
On April 1, 2000, Calsonic Corporation and Kansei Corporation were merged. At the time, the name “Calsonic Kansei Corporation” was established by integrating two companies’ names.
The name “Calsonic” was created in 1976 as the company name of US region when the first overseas production plant was established in the United States by combining “Cal” from California with “sonic” from sonic speed. The name contains a wish for the expansion of our strength like a fresh sound vibrating under the bright sunshine of California.
In 1988, celebrating its 50th anniversary of the parent company, Nihon Radiator Co., Ltd., the company name was changed to "Calsonic Corporation," which was widely known throughout the world.
The name Kansei was changed from “Kanto Seiki Co., Ltd.”, to “Kansei Corporation” in 1991 upon shifting from the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange to the First Section in August 1990, its 35th anniversary in 1991, and the expansion of business from a manufacturer specializing in instruments to plastics and electronics.
- When did you establish your Research & Development Center and relocate your HQ to Saitama city?
It was established and relocated in May 2008.
- How many countries do you conduct business in，and how many sites do you have globally?
We have 79 production plants and 14 R&D bases while conducting business in 15 countries around the world.
- Are you a listed company?
With the completion of the tender offer by CK Holdings Co., Ltd. that took place from February 22 to March 22, 2017, CK Holdings is now our company’s major shareholder with more than 90% of our shares. We have become a full subsidiary of CK Holdings, and have been delisted from the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange as of May 8, 2017.
- Why do we still see the brand name “Calsonic”?
Calsonic has supported motorsports for more than twenty years, and has advanced its engineering by developing radiators and other products for race cars. Fortunately, Calsonic enjoys a good reputation, and we continue to use the brand for service parts still now.
- What is the meaning of Monozukuri?
Monozukuri refers to the creation of value in all respects, through manufacturing fine products and providing excellent services in a timely manner to meet customers’ expectations.

- What is the design concept for Calsonic Kansei’s company logo?
The speedy, sharp design is a symbol of force and engineering skills. At the same time, the silhouette of a refreshing breeze is inspired by a comfortable environment, expressing the company's attitude of generating new trends that bring new values to the world.
- Can I use your company logo?
No, we do not allow general customers to use our company logo.
- How can I inquire about Calsonic Kansei products installed on my car?
We mainly provide our products to companies (as OEM products), and our products are installed as a part of their vehicles.
Please contact the car dealer where you bought your vehicle for product specifications and after-sales service. We are not able to answer questions about Calsonic Kansei products that have been installed on vehicles. In addition, please be aware that we do not sell directly to vehicle repair shops.

- Why did Calsonic Kansei start sponsoring motor sports?
We use the harsh environment of motorsports as an opportunity to develop our products. Motorsports also make more people aware of us as a comprehensive automotive parts manufacturer. Therefore, in 1982, we decided to sponsor a race driver, Kazuyoshi Hoshino, called “the fastest man in Japan,” and competed in Group 5 with a race car named the “Nichira Impul Nissan Silvia Turbo”.
- Does Calsonic Kansei sponsor any race cars at events other than the Super GT races?

Calsonic Blue contains a wish for the expansion of our strength using a theme color that matches the bright sunshine of California.
- I want to paint my car with Calsonic Blue. Can you tell me how to mix the color?
The techniques for painting race cars keep evolving, and we make adjustments to the color composition each year. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide the information on how to mix the colors.
- When did you become an official supplier for the McLaren-Honda?
We signed the contract with McLaren Technology Group in March 2016.
- Which products do you supply to McLaren-Honda?
We supply several heat exchange parts to McLaren-Honda.
- How do you select your suppliers?
We select suppliers by comprehensively considering if they can meet our requirements for Q (quality), C (cost), D (delivery), D (development), and M (management) and if they can establish stable business relations.
